STM32F and BLE

Question asked by moffat.darren on Feb 27, 2014
I have an existing application that uses a STM32F series MCU and I wish to extend it with Low Energy BlueTooth. I only require BLE not Dual Mode.

I have been looking at the STBLC01. Documentation states that a protocol stack running in the host is released separately in the form of static library for the STM32L.

I have several questions:
1. Is this static library compatible with STM32F series MCUs?
2. a) If not, should I be looking to the BlueNRG?
2. b) The BlueNRG documentation states that an SPI based ACI exists. Is a library provided that encapsulates BLE Profiles and connectivity or are we required to write a proprietary version of this portion of the stack?

I have a few more questions, but this will help determine direction. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Darren Moffat
