SPBTLE-1 range & discoverability issue.

I have been using SPBTLE-1s module for a month or so. I have been experiencing failure in discovering the module whilst scanning and whenever i move closer to the module the it shows up. I have setup the TX level to 8 dB but the situation has not improved. I know the indoor distance supported by BLE v4.2 is 10 m but my testing distance is almost 4-5 m . Also the outdoor connection is maintained for 4-5 m only.

Hi Altamash,

Could you please follow the HW design suggestions in datasheet:

• All unused pins should be left floating; do not ground
• GND pin must be well grounded
• Traces should not be routed underneath the module

The area around the module should be free of any ground planes, power planes, trace routings, or metal for 6 mm from the module antenna position, in all

directions.

Please also have local FAE help review your design.

We have already incorporated the above mentioned suggestions in our designs, although we not got it reviewed from the local FAE.
