Hello,
I would like to ask you for suggestion. I would like to monitor vibration of the motor in my system. What should I use MEMS microphone or 3-axis Accelerometer or Both? I am using stepper motor to drive a pump and I would like to monitor the behavior of entire assembly. I have found an latest reference design STEVAL-IDP005V1 which contain both
IIS2DH ( 3-axis Accelerometer ) and MP34DT05 ( mems microphone ). Could you explain me why on the reference design are both sensors and is there any specific software which based on the sensor input notify system about specific behavior?
Thanks a lot in advnace
Jacek

It depends which kind of issues you want to detect, each different issue produce different frequencies.
Accelerometer is used up to ones of kHz and microphone up to tens of kHz.
See following chart.

Thanks a lot Miroslav for answer really appreciate now I understand why both sensors was placed on the board ( to cover as much as possible failure ranges ). I think so I will try first to stay with ISM330DLC and see how much issues I can catch using it.
Thank you again
Jacek
