No external termination series resistors are required on USB

According the datasheet of the L476rx on page 187;

3. No external termination series resistors are required on USB_DP (D+) and USB_DM (D-); the matching impedance is already included in the embedded driver. 

If I understand this correct you can don't need the 2x27 ohm resistors you see in almost every design with USB.

If this is true, why are they then on the Stm32L476G-Discovery?
