A company the size of Trimble should have direct sales contacts, and purchasers, please use those channels. Have your FAE find you some drop ins. The Cube tools supposedly have a fitter, but the pin-for-pin stuff is not as you might hope.

As I recall the 207 and 405/407 should be very close. Certainly were on the 144-pin devices. Perhaps one or two power/strapping pins. If the ST design guides were followed these could be facilitated with BOM changes with respect to zero-ohms.

There is a global supply chain problem currently, given the order backlogs, I wouldn't expect this to ease until 2021Q3

These parts have a 10-year commitment, but that's only as good as ST's ability to deliver, and customers ability to plan and schedule.

Still it's an old part, I was using it a decade ago. Pick something newer, perhaps using the 144-pin form which historically given the most options. Got boards here I can use the F7 and H7 parts on. I'd probably use this as an opportunity to refresh the design, evaluate actual pin usage, and if dual footprint could provide more wiggle room.
