All I want is a LED to blink...

WCook.1

Hello Gals/Guys. I recently purchased a NUCLEO-F439ZI after playing around with F0-DISCOVERY. As is tradition, I wanted to make a LED blink. I have failed miserably.

I started in CubeMX to for the initial setup using all the defaults. Using the ST IDE I put the following in the main loop. Nothing happens. The same process works fine on my F0-DISCOVERY.

 HAL_GPIO_TogglePin(GPIOB, LD1_Pin);

 HAL_Delay(5000);

I have no idea where to start trouble shooting this madness. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

One thing I have noticed when executing is the TX/RX lights are constantly flashing.

This is what a debugger was invented for.

Guess: MX_ETH_Init() does not return if no network connected.

Not sure if this common Nucleo document applies to this board....

STM32 Nucleo-144 boards (MB1137) - User manual

but it says that LD1 can be connected either to PB0 or to PA5 (see section 6.5 LEDs). Try PA5. Try two other LEDs.

If "All I want is a LED to blink...", then why is ETH and USB enabled?
