No device found on target with external ST-Link to Nucleo-F070RB

Good afternoon

Before doing a final PCB design I wanted to test external ST-Link connectivity to the F070 on my Nucleo-F070RB board..

So therefore I:

  • Removed SB12 and SB15 (disconnect nRST and SWO)
  • Removed jumpers on CN2
  • Attached external ST-Link
  • ST-Link Pin 4 -> GND
  • ST-Link SWDCLK Pin9 to CN2 Pin 2
  • ST-Link SWD Pin 7 to CN2 Pin 4

Selected "Run->Configurations" and selected the external ST-Link by its serial number...

When I hit "Run" it tells me always that no device could be found...

On PA13/PA14 I see with a scope that something is happening....

Interestingly when I connect the internal ST-Link just with SCLK and SWD from CN2 to CN4 I can reprogram the F070RB MCU...

So is something wrong with my external ST-Link programmer?

Hooked up a Segger J-Link....had to set clock to 1000kHz...but he recognized the chip and could flash it....though it complained about flash being blocked for reading...
