F746ZG and an F429ZI USB device is not recognized by PC

I have a Nucleo-F746ZG and an F429ZI board, both of the board can be recognized by PC as a USB device via ST-LINK USB port.

However, due to project space limitation, I have to detach the ST-LINK and use the other USB connector(CN13 USER USB).

When I use the CN13 USB connector, I gave the board external power supply 12V to VIN as manual described, but there is no response on PC, not even the 'Unknown device', am I missing something there? Thanks.

The "other USB connector" is attached to the target processor directly, isn't it? So, unless you run some software in the target processor, which would implement the USB protocol, the PC can't communicate with it.

So, you may want to continue using the detached part with STLink, and connect its SWD lines (and ground) to the target processor using wires.
