Is it possible to debug a non-ST chip with the ST-Link V2?

As the CWD protocol is based on JTAG; Is it possible to debug a non-ST chip with the ST-Link V2? To do step by step code debug? I think in my case to debug code, loaded on a JN5169 (NXP chip based on ARM Risk) Thank you!

Technically yes, practically it might be more difficult. I don't suppose OpenOCD cares, or any test could be suppressed.

You can flash them with a Segger J-Link OB firmware, this might have fewer limitations.

Bl*ckm*g*c Debug probe can be compiled to run on a PC host and supports the same devices in the same manner as the native Bl*ckm*g*c Debug probe. A recent firmware on the Stlink is required. The STlink V3 can however only connect to ST Devices, as far as I have noticed. But maybe that is the same problem that denies debuuger connect to a G474 running with WFI where a StlinkV2 can connect with Bl*ckm*g*c.
