what does "auxiliary sensor" mean?

i use hall as main feedback sensor, but i noticed that i can also choose sensor-less as auxiliary sensor. what does this mean?

​Hello, if you choose sensor-less as auxiliary sensor, it means that both the hall observer and  the sensor-less observer will be generated and will run in parallel .

Both will determine the angle and speed but only the Hall observer will be used to drive the motor. 

This feature add CPU workload and is mainly used for debug purpose.

Hello mathieu, I don't really understand why the option of auxiliary sensor is selectable if it's just for debugging purpose. To me having an auxiliary sensor can add to redundancy in case of main sensor failure. I am surprised that aux sensor feature is only there for debugging knowing that you can greatly increase reliability of your product with the possilbity to switch on sensorless ( for example ) when your main sensor fails...
