sw4stm32/openocd can no longer edit variables

Weird one this - some time in the last few weeks I can no longer edit the contents of variables in either pop-up view or expression view after I have hit a breakpoint. Memory Browser seems to be OK.

This occurs on f3 and f7 MCUs so presumably something to do with the openocd/gdb/eclipse versions in a Linux environment.

I regularly manually update as well as respond to updates so not really sure when this problem arose.

I'm running:

Eclipse: Oxygen.3a Release (4.7.3a) Build id: 20180405-1200

OpenOCD - 1.23.0.201904120827

GDB etc -  C/C++ Development Tools 9.4.3.201802261533

Does anyone know of recent bugs that may be causing this? I'd really like to avoid re-installing everything (it's not Windows after all!)

Should I update to Photon from Oxygen?

Cheers
