STM32F405RGT6V: what does the V mean?

Hi,

I've been using STM32F405R processors on my boards for a while. I once figured out what the numbers and letters after the R mean, but they were not of any importance to me. (I have plenty with 512Mb flash).

This time when ordering a new batch of '405 processors, they (farnell) are offering the STM32F405RGT6V and the 'V' here was new to me. So I looked things up in the datasheet. There it says something like: 'xxx' packaging options like TR for tape and reel.

I would like to be sure that it doesn't mean something like 'cheaper version without the second and third ADC'.

Roger.

Answer from ST:

The V at the end means that ST paid the MP3 licence for that processor.

There it says something like: ''***'' packaging options like TR for tape and reel.

No, it says ''programmed parts''.

Yes, ok, the point is, it says 'xxx = programmed part, TR= tape and reel' but nothing about 'V'.

Basicly it says 'it's a customized part - if you don't know what it is, don't buy it'.

Yeah. Basically, the datasheet is telling me it is a programmed part for a specific customer. But that makes me wonder:

http://nl.farnell.com/stmicroelectronics/stm32f405rgt6v/mcu-32bit-cortex-m4-168mhz-lqfp/dp/2333282

... why is farnell selling preprogrammed parts for a different customer????

Even if that is the literal reading of the datasheet, I'm still guessing that it is more likely that ST forgot to document (where I can find it) what that V means. That's why I'm asking....

(I have found that ST is not infallible. I've found a few thingies in datasheets.... )

P.S. I wrote this like a week ago, but apparenly it got lost....
