Hi

i want to use the STA350BW amplifier but i am not quite sure which power supply i must use.

The first page of the Datasheet says:

Four power output configurations(a)

– 2 channels of ternary PWM (stereo mode)

(2 x 50 W into 6 Ω at 25 V)

– 3 channels - left, right using binary and LFE

using ternary PWM (2.1 mode) (2 x 18 W +

1 x 40W into 2 x 4 Ω, 1 x 8 Ω at 25 V)

– 2 channels of ternary PWM (2 x 50 W) +

stereo lineout ternary

– 1 channel of ternary PWM as mono-

The specifications page says:

Continuous output power, BTL, ternary mode

THD = 1% 27 W

THD = 10% 36 W

Continuous output power SE, binary mode, RL = 4 Ω

THD = 1% 12 W

THD = 10% 15.5 W

What kind of power supply will be sufficient?

Do i need something around 50 W with peak power over 100 W

or must i go up to 100 W continuous power with more peak?

Is the info from the first page related to music power or something similar?

thx

Hello Harry,

This forum is dedicated to operational amplifiers, comparators and current sensing products.

In order to be more efficient with appropriate answers, another e2e forum has been created for audio amplifiers.

In order to have an accurate answer by our audio support team, would it be possible to copy/paste your question to the related forum please ?

Here is the hyperlink shortcut :

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Best regards,

Sylvain

Hi Harry,

the supply power is relevant with your target output power,output configuration and test method .normally for STA350BW  50W x2 output configuration, a 60W power supply is enough  for music .

the first page info are STA350BW max output power  and continous output power that had been limited by thermal impedance of PCB , for higher continous output power , a slug up package version STA350B is available now , it can deliver mentioned max outptu power with suitable external heak sink.

Thanks .
