Demo CR95HF-A ISO 15963 max range

Hi,

I'm trying to achieve the maximum reading range from my demoboard CR95HF-A with a ISO 15693 tag (LRi2K). Until now I've obtained best results with modulation-index 10% and gain 34dB by writing 0x50 to ARC_B register: only 5 cm.

Can I improve this result? How Can I increse the antenna current?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Andrea,

Thanks for the interest in our line of product,

In order to help you further, I have a bundle of questions, sorry about that,

- What is the size of your tag?

- Is the reader : DEMO-CR95HF-A

MB1054A ?

- What is the answer to IDN ?

Thanks,

First of all, thank you for your quick reply.

These are the answers:

- What is the size of your tag? I'm using a

2x3 mm2 inside a card: it came with the demoboard.

- Is the reader : DEMO-CR95HF-A   MB1054A ?

- What is the answer to IDN ? NFC FS2JAST0

What is the size of the tag's antenna? (sorry my question was confusing)

You have an old eval board, I suggest you to get a M24LR-discovery. Several options are possible :

1. buy it form distributors

2. You can request it to your ST 's sales.

  1. If you want you can contact me through moderator 's case of this forum.  Or let me your email.

The tag is inside a card: I don't know the real antenna size.

Which antenna size is recommended to achieve the best range with my demo board?

Hello Andrea,

Just to be sure, might you send a picture of the tag please?

thanks

Also if it is a ISO Tag embedded in the card,

Read range should be more like 8 cm.

Have you ordered a new evaluation kit?

Hello,

these are the picture you requested.

For this card, which are the best CR95HF settings to achieve the longest working range?

Which are the differences between my CR95HF demoboard and M24LR transceiverboard?

Thanks for your support

Ciao Andrea,

Yes, with the tag you got, read range is more around 8 cm.

Difference betweend M24LR RF tranceiver board and DEMO-CR95HF-A ,

- EMI filter is present on the RF tranceiver board , http://www.st.com/st-web-ui/static/active/en/resource/technical/document/application_note/DM00089926.pdf

- better matching impedance, about that , there is an application note, http://www.st.com/st-web-ui/static/active/en/resource/technical/document/application_note/DM00027198.pdf

I hope you get better result with the board, let us know 🙂

Have a nice day,

I've ordered the new Demoboard: I'll try my tests with this new hardware.

Thanks
