Hi,

We are currently developing a high end application using STM32 F7. I am wondering which OS we should be opt for. It will be either FreeRTOS or Mbed OS. Can you guys give some advice?

The most important consideration is on the stability of the product, development and debugging environment.

Regards,

WH Wong

I don't know much about mbed OS. Are there any reference implementations ? (A rhetorical question).

... a high end application using STM32 F7.

Not very specific. Do you need the 'R' of RTOS, i.e. have real-time requirements ?

Hi,

Due to the confidentiality, I can’t divulge much of the application. I apologise for this. It is quite a complicated system, where several ST MCUs are involved.

And yes, it needs to have real-time requirements.

Thanks and Best Regards,

Machine control, SIL level and/or certification required ?

I don't know what mbed OS can offer in that regard.

Amongst others, my company uses a controller with FreeRTOS based firmware for a construction vehicle, with above mentioned requirements.

Depending on your application, a certified and 'expensive' OS like SafeRTOS can be cheaper in the long run, considering all the additional expenses.
