Can any one guide me to rectify the problem.  I think there is some  in built ST-LINK

The VL-Discovery uses an older version of the ST-LINK, Keil refers to this currently as ''ST-LINK (Deprecated)'', no idea what IAR does, but if there are two options, pick the older V1 version.

Failing that go download the appropriate drivers, and install them. Windows v8 will have it's own issues.

Please ensure that you have correctly installed ST-Link.

When using IAR toolchain for the first time , ST-Link Driver is required and shoud be installed. IAR setup doesn't install it automatically.

You can find it in this path ''C:\Program Files\IAR Systems\Embedded Workbench xxxx\arm\drivers\ST-Link''.
