STM32CubeMX Feature Requests

Can this be a semi-official feature-request thread for STM32CubeMX?

1. Show somewhere the essential parameters of the currently selected MCU (like flash size, RAM size, speed, etc.)

2. Add more filters when selecting MCU. I needed a HW Crypto filter not so long ago for example.

3. Add an option to change the MCU if the used peripherals are compatible with the target MCU (it can be wizard-style so the user can help the algorithm to solve conflicts).

4. Add an option for creating custom boards in the Boards list

5. This may sound silly for ST who are not used to open source movement, but why not open up the CubeMX and move its development to GitHub? These days even

https://github.com/microsoft

are making

http://blogs.msdn.com/b/dotnet/archive/2014/11/12/net-core-is-open-source.aspx

towards open source. I don't think there is know-how technology in CubeMX and ST is a hardware company not software, so it should be safe to open source it and you will be amazed how much quality feedback and pull requests you will get back from the community for free of charge.

Hello,

Thank you for your requests. Please find some feedback below:

1. Show somewhere the essential parameters of the currently selected MCU (like flash size, RAM size, speed, etc.)

-> enhancement will be raised.

2. Add more filters when selecting MCU. I needed a HW Crypto filter not so long ago for example.

-> enhancement will be raised.

3. Add an option to change the MCU if the used peripherals are compatible with the target MCU (it can be wizard-style so the user can help the algorithm to solve conflicts).

-> already part of our enhancement list.

4. Add an option for creating custom boards in the Boards list

-> enhancement will be raised.

Regarding open source development, this is not yet considered.

Best regards
