Does the STM32F429 work with Discover-MO DM-STF4BB?

I'm new around here and still not sure where all of the information I seek can be found. Any help is most appreciated!

That would be (AFAIK) MBMB1075 B-01 and DM-STF4BB if those are more meaningful designations.

I have these (along with camera and LCD that come with the Base Board.) It is not obvious to me that the processor board is meant to work with this base board since the processor has two 64 pin headers and the Base Board has two 50 pin (hole?) sockets. At the least, I would need to know how to orient and align the processor board with the base and I have not found anything on that in a quick scan of the manual for either of these.

I did find a picture of the

STM32F4DISCOVERY

processor board that seems to be the one intended for that base board. Comparing pinouts shows ground pins on one have other functions on the other which tells me they are incompatible.

Is that the case or am I missing some information?

Thanks!

Hank

The STM32F429I-DISCO is not compatible with the STM32F4-DIS-BB

http://www.st.com/web/catalog/tools/FM146/CL1984/SC720/SS1462/PF255417?sc=stm32f4dis-expansion

WaveShare has a break-out board for the STM32F429I-DISCO, but understand the design is totally compromised. The 429 used here is not going to be able to escape ETHERNET, SDIO and DCMI properly as these ALL conflict with pins used for the LCD and SDRAM implementation.

Look for a design using a 176+ pin device, or the STM324x9I-EVAL boards.

Seem to recall them having a breakout for the DISCO, but this is there own daughter/base arrangement.

Many thanks for the quick reply and finding those other alternatives.

As an aside... Does ST sell any kind of base board or expansion board to work with the 32F429IDISCOVERY kit? Or would the user ordinarily just mount the sockets on some kind of prototyping board? Are there other options? (asks the S/W guy. 😉  (*)  )

thanks,

hank

(*) I used to joke that there is nothing scarier than a S/W guy with a screwdriver ... until I picked up a soldering iron. :D

As I've discussed here before, the STM32F429I-DISCO has about zero utility as an expandable platform if used with the LCD and SDRAM. I don't expect anyone to make, or sell any volume, of such an expansion board. It would be easier just to build a better board from scratch using the right parts.
