Is L3GD20 useful for measurement of 3-axis angle?

Hi all,

I need to some advice/help about getting angles by ''L3GD20''.

I got the 3-axis angles by integrated angular rate from ''L3GD20''.

However the calculated angles were less than real moved angles.

The error is large.

Is ''L3GD20'' not useful for measurement of angles? Only for angular rate?

Do I have to select a accelerometer, ''LIS3DHTR'' and so on?

Hi Namba,

I have the same issue here. I use the L3GD20H to measure the rotation angle by integrating the output data. FS is configured to 245 dps. But in my firmware I need to assume FS = 300 dps to get plausible angle values.

Btw. I don't understand the table 7 in AN4506, 3.6.3 (DocID026442 Rev 2). The values don't match to my own calculations.

e.g.: FS = 245 dps, actual angular rate is 100 dps

100 dps = 32767 / 245 dps * 100 dps = 13374 = 0x343E

The value from the table is 0x2CA4.

I'm confused.

Regards,

Marc
