STM32L476 release data + replacement?

Does anyone know the latest estimated release date for the getting samples of the STM32L476?  The website shows Q2.

If samples aren't available soon, then I'll probably proceed with development using the closest STM32 chip available, then swap in the STM32L476 once it is available.  Does anyone know if there are any pin-compatible STM32 MCU's available (M3, no FPU, less Flash, are all okay for this temporary replacement)?  The STM32L151 is pretty close but some of the alternate functions (I2C, etc) don't match the same pins.  Ideally I would like to find a replacement that has the same pinout as the STM32L476.

Thanks!

This appears to be a hot topic

... 🙂

ST handed out some

boards in Nuremberg - note that the chip is marked ES for Engineering Sample. I mean, ask as directly at ST as possible.

Hello,

The samples should be available at distributor stock this summer. STM32L1 sounds a very good candidate for pin-to-pin compatibilty. Of course some features on STM32L4 may not be available on STM32L1 . Which package do you plan to use ?

As you look for L4, you probably need processing power. So have a look at F411, which has similar processing power, active current and resources like L4, with excellent sleep, stop and standby behaviour compared to F3/F4 but not as good as L4.
