Hi All.

I'm new to this forum, and new to STM32, and have come across a problem.

I'm using Atollic lite and an old STM32VLDiscovery board I purchased a while ago.

When I try to start a debug session Atollic gives an error:

Error in initializing ST-Link device.

Reason: (-6) ST-Link firmware upgrade required.

Please upgrade the ST-Link firmware using the upgrade tool. Reconnect ST-LINK and click OK.

When I try to upgrade the firmware the upgrade utility tells me, that ST-Link is not in DFU mode and needs restarting. No matter what I do I cant get it to upgrade. Can anyone help on this?

Thanks

Martin

Try pressing or holding the RESET button while doing so.

Thanks for your reply. I finally worked it out. You have to unplug and re plug the discovery board after you select the firmware upgrade option. The reset switch is connected to the target, not the programmer, so re starting is the same as resetting. I'm sure its documented somewhere.
