Posted on February 13, 2016 at 20:08The output mosfets will have a parasitic diode connected in the direction that you'd place a protection diode. So if the output stage can tolerate the 0.6V voltage drop during the ''mosfet off'' time with respect to ''becoming too hot'', then I think you'll be fine without those diodes. (and those external diodes better have a lower drop than the internal ones or else your diodes will not make a difference. )
