STPC-Elite: disabling the EIDE Controller

Hello,

To reduce thermal dissipation and power consumption of the STPC Elite, I would like to follows the datasheets advice, and to shutdown unused interfaces and functions. The datasheet recommends to ground some input signals.

Since this is highly sensitive, and I want to avoid mistakes that will harm other functions of the STPC-Elite, please tell me what signals should be connected to ground in order to shutdown the EIDE Controller.

In addition, what is the change in the power consumption should I expect after making this change?

Thanks!

If you don't want to use the IDE interface you can remove the ISA/IDE multiplexors. On our evaluation board they are the 245 buffers. This will prevent the IDE interface from being solicited but it is not possible to disable the controller itself.

If you want to reduce power consumption, I suggest that you use the PMU. The core accounts for a large proportion of the power consumption. Therefore, carefull programming can bring you substantial savings.
