advice on starting with high inertia

You should probably try to increase the starting torque by increasing the starting current (the torque is proportional to the current).

If this is not helping or if you reach the maximum current capability of your system you will probably have to use a slower starting ramp.

The inertia is limiting the acceleration of your motor

Is there a way to adjust the starting torque of the motor controller when using a load with a high inertia? For example, I am using a 24v motor connected via a direct drive shaft to an alternator. The motor will start up without the alternator. However, when the alternator is connected, the motor tries to start, but starts and stops repeadedly. Is there any advice on trying to a start a motor with high interia?

Thanks.
