I found appnote AN2078 STR71x In-Application Programming using UART.

''The maximum size of the image to be loaded: 56 Kbytes.''

meaning STR712FR2 (code 256 KB) can be program up to 56Kbyte?,buy STR712FR1 (code 128 KB) is better ?

Hello,

In fact this application note will be updated in next few weeks. The new version of the AN2078 will allows the user to program all the 256KB.

I think to by an STR712FR2 or an STR712FR1 does not depends on the AN2078 but depends on the user application resources. Because the AN2078 is an application note, not a bootloader, and the user has to load the application note code using a specified flasher tool then run it.

Thanks.

First production will use STR712FR2 and install IAP/bootloader via JTAG.

In field (After sale service) will programming via PC-RS232.

Waiting for new IAP(AN2078)...

ST have a future product (STR7xx) that support On-Chip bootloader (like P89C51RD2 ) ??

User can program via JTAG or UART0 available for low price programmer.

Commercial JTAG $100-$1000, RS232(UART0) $5.
