Connect NAND flash on EMI ?

Anybody know if it works to connect NAND flash on EMI (External Memory Interface) ?

Can I get any reference design from STMicroelectronics ?

Besides, is the max. space of external memory 64MB ?

Since the 64MB is divided to 16MBx4 as described on the manual, does that mean I can't use a single NAND flash larger than 16MB ?

the NAND is just an IO device (8bit/16bit data bus & some control signals). So when you need to interface size >16MB, it will be done by following command sequence of that particular NAND, for example issuing 5 address commands etc. It will not need additional CS-. For multiple NAND different CS will be reqd.

I hope its clear

One more point to add....

there are already software examples available using the external memory interface & the micro on the USB page of the internet. It is based on ST92163. As the micro had 5V operations, the level shifters are used to make it compatible to NAND @3.3V.

look for following in Electircal diagram

ST92163-DEMO/MS Mass Storage Rev C1 Demoboard Schematics

Software:-

ST92163-DEMO/MS Mass Storage Firmware (SD support)

Warning : The board must be upgraded to support this software. 2.03
