Hi,

We have the Softec ST7MC starter kit and we have finished the motor parameters. We run a 24V 3A BLDC motor and they work together like a dream 🙂 We decided to drive the motor in OpenLoop CurrentMode. According to AN1904 this uses 4361 bytes in ROM and 130 in RAM. So we think the ST7FMC1K2 in it's TQFP32 package should be sufficient. Questions: (1) Is the ST7FMC1K2 indeed sufficient for OpenLoop CurrentMode? (2) The kit uses a much more elaborate version of the ST7MC. Can the same executable be used to program the TQFP32 chip, without any porting of the code? (3) In order to program the TQFP32 chip, which socketboard or gang programmer is to be used? On the ST website I can only find ST7LITE and ST72xx programmers. Thanks a lot, Chris

Hi Cris,

I am proud to know everything is going well... I can confirm you that all ST7MC part number are suitable for BLDC OpenLoop CurrentMode, youi have only to include the right device header file and maybe modificate some IO pins (not the motor control peripheral ones). Regarding the ST7MCx gang programmers, at the moment they are provided by third parties ELNEC, Data i/o, BP and Softec. Bye bye
