Flash Erase time - GPIO speed

Hello all,

I am student and one project is to make a comparison of several MCU using ARM7 processor. I see that philips, samsung, atmel, st ... plenty are doing that 🙂

I found the STR71 and STR73 component.

First of all I like to have all information into only 2 documents. It is easy for me to look for an value or peripheral description. The other manufacturer document are quite complex and difficult to handle.

This is my first post on that forum and i don't think the last one...

Questions:

-------------

1/GPIO on STR71 and STR73

----------------------------

I did not find how fast you can toggle a GPIO...I would like to know that in case of external chip connexion.

What is the max speed for transmitting data (toggle) for the GPIO??

2/input voltage and output current.

--------------------------------------

STR71:

I see that in the STR71 we can connect 3.3V component, but if we want to connect 1.8V component??? Is there any level shifter inside??

Are there some pins 5V tolerant???

STR73:

Same question for the STR73...is there any level shifter or should we connect only 5V component??? I don't catch...sorry if it is simple question but that is confusing me...

What is the input current allowed?? I see some with 8mA some in 4mA...not the same for all??? even in the datasheet it is clear but some post in that forum get me confused...is the datasheet correct for that part??

3/Erase Time

---------------

I look into the datasheet of the Flash and I red that the chip is able to erase the flash:

STR71 with 256Ko: erase about 7.3s write is 1.6s => 8,9s full erase/write

STR73 with 256Ko: erase about 6s write is 2s => 8s full erase/write

I am correct??? Because when I check the other component there is a fast erase time but a long page write...so at the end the time is quite similar...but with an erase time so long that is surprising...

That's all for today 🙂

Thanks if some one can help me !!!

GPIO:

I saw into the forum a value of 1.3 Mb/s for 36MHz

Erase Time:

I think you are right

GPIO:

STR73 only 5V

STR71 depend on VDDIO, I think you can have IO in 1.8V

Hope that help but as I am quite new, I would prefer somone to confirm.
