Difference between simulator and ST board

Hi,

I'm using the STR912-SK board based around the ARM9E processor running at 96Mhz. I used the simulator to timed a DSP application and found about 600000cy to do the work. When I run the same task on the real platform, it takes about five times the CPU. I'm running from FLASH configured to high speed with the read wait state set to two. I expect a little more CPU because the flash is not always in burst mode and so on, but I don't expect a so big difference. Is anybody has a explanation for this?

Thanks a lot
