For those who want or need completely free tools for the STM32 under Linux you might want to check my web site.

I have the latest SVN code running well (GCC 4.4.0) with the latest

binutils (2.19). I welcome feedbacks.

I will have a pdf document in the next few days explaining how to have a

functional environment with eclipse.

My tools were debugged under Fedora 9 but they should work under any Linux system. With Ubuntu or Debian you would need to use alien to convert the packages or recreate your own packages.

Dear Michel,

This is a great Job ! I have Mandriva ( French branch of Linux ''Mandrake'' distribution of Linux, Can I run the same ''rpms'' too ? I'm waiting for your tutorial or pdf this would be excellent for beginners like me to install the full environment.

Thanks a lot,

I will send you my feedbacks as soon as I install it.

Cheers,

STOne-32.

STOne-32,

It should. I haven't had time to make Mandriva binaries. I have a

subscription to Mandriva (up at 2009.0) but am having issues with the

video, sometimes it halts for a bit. That would be my main system if it

wasn't for that. I will probably get back to Mandriva when the bug is

fixed.

I use to prefer Mandriva because of the better support for the French

language but this annoying bug makes it unusable for me at this time.

The differences between Mandriva and Fedora 9 are not very big.

In two or three weeks I will have 64 bits binaries available for Mandriva

2009. With the new fixes on 64 bits stuff and the flash support I am

considering moving to 64 bits.

As for the documentation I did most of it yesterday while listening to some French Canadian folk music from a Canadian radio station in Québec.

The part that is left to document is the interface with OpenOCD and Eclipse.

One odd thing I found with OpenOCD is that if you program the device and

then try to debug, the interrupts don't work. It looks like the registers

are not restored. It seemed for a while that only a cycle of the power

restore sanity. If I type ''mon cortex_m3 maskisr off'' after the ''load''

command the problem goes away.

I might eventually make an HTML version of the document.
