Substantial Price INCREASE - STM32 Devices

Greetings fellow forum users:

During our weekly survey of price/movement we detected that Digi-Key has raised your STM32F prices by ~54% @ Q100! (way up at all levels) A 4.01USD part is now an ''unapologetic'' 6.18USD...

We were told that this change took effect Aug 17 - we did not detect it till this morning. Can't determine if this was disty or mfg initiated.

Several competing disty still show ''old'' REASONABLE pricing. This may be just short term.

This BIG, this SUDDEN ** INCREASE ** likely REMOVES our use of the STM32 for our low & mid-level products. Perhaps we NOW NEED a, ''Price SANITY'' campaign...

Hi,

The Digi-Key Price increase for the STM32F103R6T6 qty 100 is from £2.02 each to £4.36 each (qty 100)

Is this massive price increase exclusive to Digi-Key, or has ST implemented the increase? If so why?

Hi all,

I've checked with my colleagues in charge of commercial and distributors at ST and we are surprised to see that Digikey has decided to increase by themselves price,no change for other distributors and we confirm that STMicroelectronics has no responsibility and our prices are kept unchanged.

Cheers,

STOne-32.

I´m also very concerned about this price increase.

And not any declarations from ST yet :(

Dear STOne-32,

Thank you VERY much for first checking and then responding to your forum! Greatly appreciated.

So LARGE, So SUDDEN, So UNJUSTIFIED (NO explanation at all) a price increase is shocking and unsettling... Certainly - having been lucky/fortunate enough to take a past tech. co. public - I would NEVER have tried such a gambit...

DigiKey stocks many similar parts - as I stated - my firm ''tracks'' price/inventory regularly - we can detect NO OTHER DEVICES so CONDEMNED BY SUCH A HUGE, UNANNOUNCED/UNJUSTIFIED PRICE INCREASE!!!

Indeed these are difficult economic times - ''just'' as your STM32 is gaining ''traction'' is an ESPECIALLY BAD TIME to ''gamble'' on a price increase which qualifies as ''outrageous.'' We of the forum - who become very large STM32 BUYERS IN AGGREGATE - certainly HOPE that this UNACCEPTABLE PRICE INCREASE GAMBIT can be quickly rejected. Let's return to STM32 Price SANITY...
