It's not even as if Hyperterminal is a standard part of Windows any more:

I've tried to avoid it for many years.

I use RealTerm rather a lot for the hex modes, send and capture options. For things where I need file transfer capabilities I found Clear Terminal to be quite effective.

Far more likely, this was a reply to something else which has got disconnected from its original question.

I replied to the old thread some what out of amusement, it came up as a 'related' topic/thread to one I had been looking at, and I was also trying to get my head around 'marking something as obsolete' which apparently not something I can do as a user.

I'd be further amused if the new forum software actually emailed you an alert about this, or if it just popped up in the InBox here..
