Trouble with STLink/gdbserver

Hi, I am new to this and trying to get my STM32 Discovery board working with the Atollic IDE. I'm following the instructions for this board/IDE combination in the PDF files provided by the manufacturer, but I am running on a 64-bit version of Windows 7 which isn't listed in their set of requirements.

I get as far as clicking the debug icon in the IDE, the gdbserver launches and fails with this message:

Starting server with the following options:

        Persistant Mode            : Disabled

        LogFile Name               : debug_log.txt

        Logging Level              : 1

        Listen Port Number         : 61234

        Status Refresh Delay       : 15s

        Verbose Mode               : Disabled

        SWD Debug                  : Enabled

Error in Initializing ST-Link device

Note that SWD debug is enabled, as this not being so seems to be the most common issue for this failing.

I can connect to the board using the ST-Link utility v2.0, and it shows me the correct device info.

Is Windows 7 compatibility the issue? Is there something I need to do to the STM 32 board to get it to play ball?

Any suggestions gratefully received!
