Change the stm32f100 on STM32VL-Discovery

Hi!

I like very much the Discovery kit what I have purchased recently, but I would like to experiment with CAN bus as well. So I thought de-soldering the STM32F100 and then soldering a STM32F103 could do the trick for me. Is this possible?

Yes, but.......

If you have to ask the question, you may not have the soldering skills and equipment. The risk is that a PCB lead will lift off. The two processors are pin compatible, but you will have to check your Discovery board to make sure the CAN pins are not dedicated to something else. Discovery boards are not expensive. My recommendation - buy an F4 Discovery, it has 2 CANs. Cheers, Hal
