Posted on January 21, 2013 at 23:09I was speaking with an ST marketing engineer, and he informed me that the STM8S208 has the capability of driving 12 independent PWM channels, but after looking at the datasheet more closely, it seems that it can only drive 9 channels, with 3 complementary channels.
I brought this up to him, and he insisted that 12 unique channels were indeed possible.
Can someone please clarify whether or not he's correct, and if not, what would be the best way to simulate the remaining three channels?
Would bit banging be an option? The PWM frequencies will be between 500 and 1000 Hz.
