Hi, I'm switching from a stm32f100 to the stm32f051, most of the code is working already. but the usart1 does not work. The output doesn't change when I am trying to send something.

Here are some snippets of my code:

1.
RCC_USARTCLKConfig(RCC_USART1CLK_PCLK);
2.
RCC_AHBPeriphClockCmd(RCC_AHBPeriph_GPIOA | RCC_AHBPeriph_GPIOB);
3.
RCC_APB2PeriphClockCmd(RCC_APB2Periph_ADC1 | RCC_APB2Periph_USART1, ENABLE);

GPIO_InitTypeDef GPIO_InitStructure;

GPIO_InitStructure.GPIO_Speed = GPIO_Speed_50MHz;

GPIO_InitStructure.GPIO_OType = GPIO_OType_PP;

GPIO_InitStructure.GPIO_PuPd = GPIO_PuPd_NOPULL;

/* Configure USART1 RX (PA.10) as input floating */

GPIO_PinAFConfig(GPIOA, GPIO_PinSource10, GPIO_AF_0);

GPIO_InitStructure.GPIO_Pin = GPIO_Pin_10;

GPIO_InitStructure.GPIO_Mode = GPIO_Mode_AF;

GPIO_InitStructure.GPIO_PuPd = GPIO_PuPd_UP;

GPIO_Init(GPIOA, &GPIO_InitStructure);

/* Configure USART1 TX (PA.9) as alternate function push-pull */

GPIO_PinAFConfig(GPIOA, GPIO_PinSource9, GPIO_AF_0);

GPIO_InitStructure.GPIO_Pin = GPIO_Pin_9;

GPIO_InitStructure.GPIO_Mode = GPIO_Mode_AF;

GPIO_InitStructure.GPIO_OType = GPIO_OType_PP;

GPIO_Init(GPIOA, &GPIO_InitStructure);

USART_InitTypeDef USART_InitStructure;

USART_DeInit(USART1);

/* USARTx configured as follow:

- BaudRate = 115200 baud

- Word Length = 8 Bits

- One Stop Bit

- No parity

- Hardware flow control disabled (RTS and CTS signals)

- Receive and transmit enabled

*/

USART_InitStructure.USART_BaudRate = 115200;

USART_InitStructure.USART_WordLength = USART_WordLength_8b;

USART_InitStructure.USART_StopBits = USART_StopBits_1;

USART_InitStructure.USART_Parity = USART_Parity_No;

USART_InitStructure.USART_HardwareFlowControl = USART_HardwareFlowControl_None;

USART_InitStructure.USART_Mode = USART_Mode_Rx | USART_Mode_Tx;

/* Configure USART1 */

USART_Init(USART1, &USART_InitStructure);

/* Enable the USART1 */

USART_Cmd(USART1, ENABLE);

/* Enable USART1 Receive interrupt */

USART_ITConfig(USART1, USART_IT_RXNE, ENABLE);

Can anyone tell me, if there is a problem with the initalization? Thank you for every help. #stm32f051-usart-usart1

For USART1, this should be workable

/* USART1 PA.9 Tx, PA.10 Rx STM32F0-Discovery sourcer32@gmail.com */
#include ''stm32f0xx.h''
#include ''stm32f0_discovery.h''
int main(void)
{
USART_InitTypeDef USART_InitStructure;
GPIO_InitTypeDef GPIO_InitStructure;
RCC_AHBPeriphClockCmd(RCC_AHBPeriph_GPIOA, ENABLE);
RCC_APB2PeriphClockCmd(RCC_APB2Periph_USART1,ENABLE);
GPIO_PinAFConfig(GPIOA, GPIO_PinSource9, GPIO_AF_1);
GPIO_PinAFConfig(GPIOA, GPIO_PinSource10, GPIO_AF_1);
/* Configure USART1 pins: Rx and Tx ----------------------------*/
GPIO_InitStructure.GPIO_Pin = GPIO_Pin_9 | GPIO_Pin_10;
GPIO_InitStructure.GPIO_Speed = GPIO_Speed_50MHz;
GPIO_InitStructure.GPIO_Mode = GPIO_Mode_AF;
GPIO_InitStructure.GPIO_OType = GPIO_OType_PP;
GPIO_InitStructure.GPIO_PuPd = GPIO_PuPd_UP;
GPIO_Init(GPIOA, &GPIO_InitStructure);
USART_InitStructure.USART_BaudRate = 9600;
USART_InitStructure.USART_WordLength = USART_WordLength_8b;
USART_InitStructure.USART_StopBits = USART_StopBits_1;
USART_InitStructure.USART_Parity = USART_Parity_No;
USART_InitStructure.USART_HardwareFlowControl = USART_HardwareFlowControl_None;
USART_InitStructure.USART_Mode = USART_Mode_Rx | USART_Mode_Tx;
USART_Init(USART1, &USART_InitStructure);
USART_Cmd(USART1,ENABLE);
while(1)
{
while (USART_GetFlagStatus(USART1, USART_FLAG_TXE) == RESET);
USART_SendData(USART1, 'X');
}
}

Thank you very much.

Now it works - there was just the failure with the alternative function table.
