VL53L0x i2c validation

Hi,

 I've VL53L0x Satellites board and according to datasheet page 21, section 3.2

I should be able to read register 0xC0 for i2c validation. I've 5V, gnd, SDA and SCL hooked up to my AArdvark total phase i2c analyzer. I also use Aardvark activity board to make sure i2c is working properly and it is working properly. However, when I hook it up to satellite board, I was not able to read anything. Is there I need to do to get it initialized.
