Touch Sensing Controller. Shield or no Shield ?

Hello dear STCommunities,

i am a hardware developper from Germany and i haven't so much experience in TSC (Touch Sensing Controller). In my project i have configure my touch unit in one Group ( 3 pins for my touch electrods and the last one for my sample capacity). My question is do i need to configure a shield imperativly ? i don't have understand exactly his purpose ..

i need help please , an answer will be nice.

Take a look at

ST Application Note AN4312. I have done a simple touch sensor without a driven shield, making use of a simple 'grounded shield' as they call it in the Application Note.
