I have been asked to embed an accelerometer into the engine control module. It would normally be used when the engine is not running to determine static angle with respect to gravity; low G, angle sensor. However, once the engine starts running there will be significant vibration; the controller is mounted to the engine. For discussion purposes it may be considered 10 g random, up to about 3000 Hz. The specification indicates the normal operating ranges and then indicates a couple of shock type accelerations (absolute maximums). But these are very short duration (3000 g, 0.5 ms) or (10000 g for 0.1 ms). What would be the suitability of the device if exposed to continuous 10 g random vibration? 15 g? 20 g?
